The Cross

When my pain seems unending and my burdens hard to bear,
I hold Your cross before my eyes, remembering why You were there.
Then my pain becomes as nothing, and my burden seems so small,
It’s then Your grace flows through me, and helps me give my all.
My anger turns to shame, my longings turn to vanity,
And, kneeling before Your cross, my pride becomes humility.
My sadness disappears beneath the sorrows of the cross,
And all of my complaints before Your Crown Of Thorns are lost.
My weakness becomes a power in the pattern of Your plans,
And I wonder at this mystery as I view Your wounded hands.
The nails within Your feet make my path seem very clear,
Whilst the vision of such perfect love, takes from me every fear.
So let me hold on to this vision whenever I feel lost,
And let me always remain thankful for the love upon the cross.
